Spooky Halloween Spirit: Carving A Pumpkin

Carving pumpkins is a great way to get into the spooky Halloween spirit while adding some DIY decor to your home. It's a fun activity to do with your kids, but anyone can enjoy it regardless of age. Whether you want a scary or silly design, we have some great ideas for you.

Step One

The first thing you'll need to do is pick out a pumpkin that will fit your design. Don't forget to gather all of your tools beforehand, including a serrated knife, a large spoon, and a carving saw, along with any other carving tools you might need.

Step Two

Once you have your pumpkin ready to go, use your serrated knife to cut off the top. Then, you'll need to scoop out all of the seeds, as well as any of the sticky fibers and flesh inside. If you want to save the seeds for eating, be sure to set them aside.

Step Three

Now, it's time to start carving! If you're using a template, you can tape the paper to your pumpkin and use a sharp object to punch holes along the template lines. Once the template is removed, you can carve along the dotted lines. Alternatively, you can place tracing paper underneath the template and trace over it with a pen. Then, remove the paper and carve over the traced lines to bring your design to life.

Don't forget to add a tea light candle in the center to give your pumpkin that classic Jack-o-Lantern look!

Congratulations! You have successfully carved your pumpkin for Halloween. Remember to be safe when using sharp tools and always supervise children who are carving. Don't forget to display your creation proudly and have a Happy Halloween!
